Successive wins in the league and all appears well once again in the Arsenal camp.

Despite victories over Everton and Watford, the Gunners still sit eight points behind leaders Leicester – which could be stretched to 11 should the table toppers defeat Southampton later today.

Chasing top spot is now Arsenal’s only focus this season having recently exited both the Champions League and FA Cup.

And while it would take an extraordinary and monumental swing of results to see Arsene Wenger’s men go on to lift the title for the first time since 2004, Gabriel is refusing to give up hope.

‘The team are now very excited with the last two wins in the league, which were two difficult games, but we’re all thinking positively that we can win,’ the defender is quoted as saying in a report run.

‘We’re also hoping for some fault on Leicester and Tottenham’s part and if we carry on the way that we have been lately, that we can definitely win the league.’

Gabriel has every right to feel confident, for Arsenal are notorious for finishing campaigns strongly, but whether they can pull off the unlikeliest of championship wins with just seven games left to play remains to be seen.
